Notice Title

Specialist Academic Consultant

Notice Description

Cardiff University is delivering a programme of change to enhance the student experience, covering teaching quality, student voice, assessment and many other aspects of the student experience. This is partly due to a declining performance in National Student Survey (NSS) in recent years but also driven by an ambitious Education & Student Strategy, with student experience as a main priority for the University. In addition to delivery of institution-wide enhancement, a key success factor for the programme of change will be to work with specific academic units which have a strong effect on institutional performance results to bring about improvements in student satisfaction, measured by performance in the NSS. The consultant will be intrinsic to this work and will report to the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience's while forming close alliances with selected academic units/ schools. The consultant will work very closely with the University's Learning and Teaching Academy and align with the broader change programme underway on Student Success, Inspiring Teachers, and Inclusive and Innovative Learning Environments. The consultant will provide expert knowledge in the NSS, and targeted support to the selected academic units to inform and drive change. They will identify areas of good practice, which can be shared across the University. It is expected that the approach and methodology used by the consultant could be shared and extended to other academic schools / areas which are not targeted by this project.Expected timescale for the work to be completed is October 2022 to have an initial impact on survey results in 2023.
