Derelict Vessel Removal in Wales
Notice Description
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) plan to procure a Contractor(s) to deliver derelict vessel removal including (but not limited to):- Removal of vessels that could either be floating, lightly aground, hard aground, sunken in shallow water or partially buried in mud - this should preferably involve the use of a crane stationed on a hardstanding adjacent to the area where vessels are present.- Following requirements of a marine licence, and all best practice guidance when working in sensitive and/or protected areas of land and sea (these should be consulted with the contract manager and appropriate NRW staff who will be able to provide advice).- Vessel survey for hazardous waste prior to, and during, the removal operation.- Appropriate disposal of vessels and any other waste collected during the operation, including any hazardous waste (NRW may appoint a separate contractor to carry out this part of the requirement if appropriate, depending on the contract needs).The contract is anticipated to be delivered in early 2024, with a possibility of similar contracts being required again in late 2024 and beyond depending on NRW needs.NRW is looking to engage with the market. The purpose of this notice is to seek information from the marketplace in relation to the capacity to carry out this potential future contract opportunity. This is to inform the method statement section of a marine licence application required prior to the contract commencing. It will also inform the procurement strategy ensuring that any procurement route subsequently selected is attractive to the marketplace and will provide a competitive tendering environment for efficient delivery of any future contract requirements.
