As part of the planned refurbishment of the Old Library on Queens Square, Wrexham County Borough Council is keen to introduce a green wall into the refurbishment of the grade II listed building as part of a potential glass extension.The Council is keen to utilise sustainable systems in the refurbishment of the listed building and understand how innovative in its growing system we can be. The Council is keen to engage with the local community and especially if a green wall can provide edible plants.The Council is particularly keen to understand:* What type of plants to use;* If green walls be used for urban farming techniques;* How green walls can be maintained;* Maintenance costs to keep the green wall alive and healthy;* If a green wall can be used as an edible wall for the products grown to be used in the proposed cafe;* The mechanics of green walls - whether they are grown by using hydroponic techniques or other systems;* Install costs;* Any structural requirements that need to be considered;* Details of how the green wall plants grow, including any details of pumped water systems to show how the green wall can be installed utilising hydroponic systems;* Details of how energy will provide growth for the green wall; and* Carbon and sustainability considerations such aso For every m2 of green wall how much CO2 per ton/kg and other harmful toxins improve the air qualityo How much heat loss will the green wall prevento How a green wall might reduce the air temperatureo How much cooling the green wall facilitateo How much oxygen each year in Kg's can be produced using a green wallo If a green wall system uses greywater systems to enable recycling of greywatero Potential reduction in ambient noise a green wall might produceIf a supplier has any expertise in the above and / or is interested in supplying a green wall solution to the Council, please submit an overview of your offering and any indicative costs to procurement@wrexham.gov.uk by 5pm on 4th June 2024.The information provided in response to this Speculative Notice will be used to inform Procurement decisions going forward and the potential solution implemented by the Council.
