    An award has been made for the following:-Neath Port Talbot Council have successfully secured funding from the National Heritage Lottery under Local Places for Nature to work collaboratively with the NHS to improve and enhance the grounds surrounding the mental health facility at Swn-Yr-Afon, Seven Sisters. An award has ben made to procure a contractor to construct and deliver a green roof outdoor structure using a steel frame, timber cladding and a green roof consisting of wildflower planting. Technical designs and drawings along with bill of quantities have been already procured and will form the basis of the project.We intend to demonstrate how, by implementing simple solutions, we can have a positive impact on the environment around us but also a positive impact on people’s mental health and wellbeing. The project aims to provide a quiet and safe space for patients, staff and visitors to use which would allow them to process and relax whilst in nature. The green roof structure will provide an additional habitat for nature through the provision of native wildflower planting, soil and nesting sites. It is meant to inspire people to rethink the way we look at providing space for nature; make them understand how nature can help us fight the impact of climate change, provide mindfulness opportunities and enable people to interact positively with nature.This project will serve as a pilot example of best practice to demonstrate that green infrastructure can fulfill multiple functions and deliver multiple benefits.
