Cyngor Gwynedd is keen to commission a provider to provide equality training, specifically on disability issues, to enable our staff to develop their understanding of the broad field, in a safe and supportive environment.The organisation recognises the importance of giving our staff the knowledge, skills and confidence to engage respectfully and effectively with disabled people.Note - This training will be part of a wider programme, which looks to ensure staff receive specific training on different areas of equality. The intention is to offer further titles in the field that discuss specific protected characteristics, highlighting different barriers that diverse communities face.Cyngor Gwynedd has a bilingual policy (Welsh and English). As a result the Council wishes to appoint a provider who can deliver the training in Welsh and English. However, we will consider English providers if there are no suitable bilingual providers.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=155705.The buyer has indicated that it will accept electronic responses to this notice via the Postbox facility. The training will:- Empower staff to support colleagues and service users- Promote a culture of respect and understanding- Reduce stigma, prejudice and inequality- Build staff confidence by dealing with diverse communities- Improve accessibility in communications, services and environmentsThe main requirements of the training include:- Life experience - whether that's from the trainer directly or in videos/stories presented during the training- An overview of the various impairments that exist- Identifying the barriers faced by disabled individuals.- Learning the appropriate language to use and appropriate behaviour- An introduction to the social model- Understanding the meaning of 'intersectionality '- An interactive event that gives staff the opportunity to share good practice as well as ask questions and share ideas- A practical element for staff to understand the good practices of the community (for example: using the correct terminology)- Reinforcing respect and dignity in the workplace and in the community.(WA Ref:155705)
