Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government is conducting a contract for the maintenance of engines, propulsion systems, and associated equipment for four marine vessels, with a total contract value of approximately £2,359,920. The procurement method utilised is the open procedure, which aims to promote transparency and competition among suppliers. Key deadlines include the need for suppliers to respond electronically ahead of the tender's closing time. The tender will require maintenance services during annual refits, scheduled for October, January, February, and March each year, as well as potential unplanned maintenance outside of these periods.

This procurement opportunity presents significant potential for companies specialising in marine engineering, maintenance services, and suppliers of spare parts. Businesses with capabilities in quality management and compliance with health and safety standards will be well-suited to compete. Established firms with experience in maintaining marine vessels, particularly those familiar with Wartsila Technical Service Bulletins and documentation, will find this tender aligns well with their expertise and operational capabilities, thereby enhancing their chances of fostering growth through public procurement contracts.
