Summary of the contracting process

Clackmannanshire Council is seeking tenders for the "Transport for Education and Social Care Requirements" to deliver school and social care transport services within Clackmannanshire and extending to other areas as necessary. With the procurement classified under the services category, it is currently in the Award stage, having completed the tender process. The procurement method used is selective under a restricted procedure, permitting admissions via the Dynamic Purchasing System. Key dates include the contract signing on 4th August 2017, and the closing date for tender submissions was 27th March 2017. This initiative has been initiated to comply with statutory requirements for transport provision, particularly for distance-entitled school pupils.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses focused on transport services, particularly those able to deliver public service vehicles and private hire car services. Companies holding the relevant licences, such as a PSV Operator's Licence or equivalent, are encouraged to participate. The ongoing contracts will cater not only to educational institutions but also to vulnerable adults, allowing a variety of suppliers, including small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and community-focused businesses, to engage with Clackmannanshire Council and contribute to their community benefit objectives. This procurement could significantly help transport providers grow their businesses through long-term service engagements.
