Lot Information
Lot 1
West Argyll Forest District plants approximately 3 million trees each year, of which about 2 million are chemically treated with insecticide prior to planting. The treatment plant at Cairnbaan has two Electrodyn machines and the normal output for each machine would be in the region of 25,000- 30,000 trees per day based on a three person team. The contract will be to complete the treatment of approximately 2 million trees throughout the contract period and the successful bidder should have the ability to respond to fluctuating demand based on changes in weather conditions and demand from planting contractors. Plants will be supplied in both bare root and cell grown forms. Bidders should base their single price submission on the treatment of both types of plants. The Forestry Commission will not be able to guarantee the proportion of each in any given year due to variation in planting programmes and plant supply. Our intention is to award this contract for a period of 2 years. With an option to extend for a further 12 months We anticipate that the Contract will be awarded by Mid August 2017 with a Contract start date of October 2017 and a completion date of September 2020 (with any extensions) The operational period for each year will generally run from the beginning of January and finish at the end of May each year. The decision on whether to use the extension option will be at our discretion and will be based on the following factors: Quality of performance, Budget availability, Operational requirements and the availability of chemical. Economic Operators may be excluded form this competition if they are in any of the situations referred to in regulation 58 of the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015
Renewal: 1 Year Extension at the end of year 2 , to a maximum duration of 3 years - at the sole discretion of the Forestry Commission
