Notice Description
Shetland Islands Council's Social Work Service currently operates a Community Alarm/Telecare Service for approximately 550 dispersed Community Alarm units. The units are installed in Sheltered Housing and individual homes throughout mainland Shetland and its outer islands, namely Unst, Yell, Papa Stour, Foula, Fair Isle and Skerries. The islands are widely distributed, requiring travel by local ferries or air services. There are also peripheral telecare devices linked through the Community Alarm Units, including smoke alarms, bed sensors, temperature extreme sensors, door exit sensors, fall detectors and passive infrared monitors.
