A new play park area is to be constructed at the visitor car park area of the Tentsmuir Forest. The appointed contractor will be expected to design and build the new play area.

This Prior Information Notice seeks notes of interest from prospective contractors for the design and build of a new play area at Tentsmuir Forest, Fife. The play area design, equipment and surfacing would need to adhere to the most up to date BS and EN standards, and will need to be checked and approved by ROSPA. Any interested party must submit the following to be considered. - Previous experience of the successful delivery of similar design and build projects. - Experience of constructing/installing/landscaping on sand. - Examples of the type of play area equipment used previously. - Examples of previous play area design output.(Visual representations, artist drawings, 3D drawings etc.) Based on this information (which will not be formally evaluated, scored etc.), SNH and the Forestry Commission will draw up a list of contractors to be invited to submit a formal quotation. The Invitation to Quote will include a Statement of Requirements, Project Brief, Site Photographs etc. Notes of interest, including the details requested above, must be sent electronically to greig.cochrane@snh.gov.uk by 17:00 on 25/08/17.

    "description": "We are looking for expressions of interest in a design and build contract for a play area at Tentsmuir Forest, Fife. The theme will be along the lines of where the forest meets the sea. The site is on the edge of the sand dunes within a cleared area of woodland, and is only 0.6m above the water table in the lowest part of the site. Consequently any structures need to take into account the lack of depth to build into, and that the substrate is compacted sand. We will be looking for play equipment that is unique, challenging, covering a wide range of activities and caters for all ages and all abilities including an element of accessible play. The play area should use natural materials, with robinia wood structures, and sand or bark play surface. The Design Guidance for Play Space published by Forestry Commission England gives further guidance.
