Purchase of equipment for next-generation sequencing. The equipment will allow the lab to perform small scale and exploratory/pilot projects where up to 25 million sequencing reads can be obtained in our lab within 24 hours to assess the sample quality and glean useful preliminary information. Once this initial assessment of samples has been performed, these same samples or only those samples with desired quality and/or characteristics can be immediately sent to Edinburgh Genomics for deeper sequencing (ie up to 120 million reads each) but with a turnaround time of 3-4 weeks.
