Lot Information
Lot 1
This is to replace the existing Li-Cor Odyssey infra-red scanner as Li-Cor say they will no longer provide a service contract or technical support for it after the end of this year. This is a heavily used piece of equipment in the Centre used by multiple research groups. We have named the Odyssey CLx Infrared Imaging System, the new model, in our new core grant and have recently had this model demonstrated alongside a competing camera and led light based system by Syngene (GBox Chemi XX9). We tried both machines using the same blots and gels and the Odyssey proved to be far more sensitive and picked out bands that the Syngene missed. The Odyssey is used daily by anywhere between 4 to 10 researchers and replacing with the new Odyssey CLx and its new improved software would minimise any training time required for our staff to get up to speed on using the scanner. Indeed the new software has simplified many of the parameters from the old software. It would also minimise any comparative results recalibration required compared to replacing it with the Syngene camera based system which has different scale of sensitivity.
