Summary of the contracting process

Clackmannanshire Council recently awarded a contract titled "Award of Hiring of Mini-Tractors 2017" for the supply of mini-tractors required for winter maintenance operations on public footways. The contract, which is classified under the services industry category, is set for a duration of three years starting from the date of award, with the hiring period varying for Clackmannanshire and Falkirk Councils. This procurement process falls under the Scotland Excel framework for vehicle and plant hire and is currently in the Award stage, following the tender that began on 1 November 2017 and will conclude on 31 October 2020. The awarded contract was signed on 19 September 2017 and is valued at £94,950.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in vehicle leasing and industrial vehicles, particularly those that can provide mini-tractors with equipment for snow ploughing and salt spreading. Companies capable of ensuring vehicle availability and providing prompt maintenance services will be well-suited to compete, given the essential requirement for breakdown cover and replacement vehicles within a short timeframe. Diverse suppliers in the construction and winter service sectors are encouraged to engage in this procurement process to expand their operational portfolios.
