This is where the Forestry Commission come in. Our core purpose is to deliver multiple benefits by promoting the sustainable management of trees, woods and forests for the economy, for people and for the environment. West Argyll Forest District covers 91,800ha stretching from Appin in the North, to Southern Kintyre and includes the Isle of Mull. The District Office is located in Lochgilphead, with outstations in Oban and Aros, Mull. We intend to award a framework agreement for rhododendron and invasive vegetation control covering West Argyll Forest district. The control of Rhododendron, and other invasive species may be done by cutting with chainsaw, chemical control, manual pulling or a combination of these techniques. There will be an element of steep ground working on some sites.

West Argyll Forest District covers 91,800ha stretching from Appin in the North, to Southern Kintyre and includes the Isle of Mull. The District Office is located in Lochgilphead, with outstations in Oban and Aros, Mull.
