This building is listed category A by HES and is located in a Conservation Area. A number of defects have been observed to the fine stone finials, crockets and pendant bosses located around the statue niches on the North and East elevations and on the four spires. There are over 200 finials, hundreds of crockets and approximately 68 pendant bosses. Approximately 70% of these fine details are in need of replacement, repair or stabilization. At least two of the four spire heads are in need of stabilization. Repairs are to be carried out in accordance with Architect/ Engineer's details. Replacement of details will require new stone to match existing which will require sample testing and petrographic analysis of existing stonework. Stabilization and repair will include dowelling and rebedding of existing stonework. Sample testing of existing mortars will be required. Work to include erecting of scaffolding to allow high level access with all necessary permits and certificates.

This is a two stage procurement process. A shortlist of contractors will be made from the evaluation of the submitted ESPD's. These contractors will then be sent the tender documents. From the completed tender documents a contractor will be selected based on price and quality. The shortlisted contractors will need to demonstrate that they have the required skills and experience in stonework repair and conservation on similar buildings. They must demonstrate that they have carried out work as described in 11.1.4.
