NHSGG&C Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services (Addiction Services) deliver treatment and care services to approximately 6,000 patients per year in a range of settings: Community Addiction Teams Specialist in-patient services Homelessness Day Services Criminal Justice Out-patient services Prison Services Testing, monitoring and reporting of illicit substance use is essential for appropriate patient care and is a key component of service delivery. Testing is carried out in all service areas. There are a number of drivers, (Clinical Governance, Clinical Biochemistry Accreditation, MHRA guidance, Electronic Patient Record), that set the expected quality standards which relate to drug testing apparatus.
