Notice Description

To provide continuity with the previous surveys, and allow comparison between findings, the overall survey design (i.e. the data collection methods and questions asked) should replicate, or suggest relevant improvements to of the 2011-2014 survey. The main areas to be covered in the survey questions; 1) the backgrounds of the participating crofters 2) crofting activities 3) financial issues in crofting 4) investments in the croft 5) sources of information on crofting 6) the future of crofting.

Lot 1

The key objectives of this research are; to gather extensive data from a representative sample of crofters from across Scotland and create a quantifiable and robust dataset that ensures continuity with previous the survey methodology; and in addition with a research advisory group, to create improvements and additions to the survey which provide evidence on the economic and social conditions of crofters in Scotland that can provide the basis for future policymaking. There are likely to be additional attitudinal questions agreed by the research group in relation to crofters attitudes to a small number of policy and related issues.
