Notice Description

ScotRail is seeking a supplier to use Network Rail infrastructure to provide high speed wifi to our trains on Edinburgh - Glasgow via Falkirk High route.

Lot Information

Lot 1

- Bidders must propose a proven technology which can provide at least 250MBs continuous and unbroken customer wifi internet connectivity throughout the connected high speed route(s) to each train. - Capability required to utilise 3/4G to supply customer wifi internet connectivity when train is on a section of track where high speed lineside connectivity is not available. Bidders may also wish to propose plans around 4.5G connectivity. - Bidders must be able to articulate technical refresh strategy over the lifetime of the contract and scalability of technical solution/potential upgrade paths to provide additional bandwidth & utilise emerging technology. - Fitment of equipment to 24 x class 385 units (each 4-cars) - The system has to be installed and commissioned by 2nd March 2019. - Managed contract to operate services to 31st March 2025 under agreed SLA with options for extension by 12 and 24 months - Bidder will have to contract with Network Rail for use of their services as described below - Network Rail will provide (specifications will be provided to tenderers): - Trackside masts - Power supplies to track side masts - Data centre with connection to FTNx network - Lineside FTNx fibre with dedicated capacity - Junction boxes to FTNx network at each mast location - Successful Bidder will provide: - Hardware at the top of the Network Rail mast to beam to train - Connection between hardware on mast and FTNx junction box - Hardware within the data centre provided by Network Rail - Hardware on train to receive signal and distribute in every carriage. - Subject to proving deliverability and a positive business case, ScotRail may extend beyond Edinburgh - Glasgow route to Stirling, Dunblane and Alloa. This would require fitment of equipment to at least a further 20 x class 385 (3-car) units.
