'Harvey' Simulator, Western General
Notice Description
The University has been using the 'Harvey' Cardiopulmonary Patient Simulator to teach undergraduate medical students for over 16 years and due to equipment failure and a lack of available spare parts we need to replace the current version located in seminar room 3 in the Western General Hospital Medical Education Centre. Laerdal Medical Limited are the sole UK distributer of the Next Generation Harvey(r) - The Cardiopulmonary Patient Simulator and the University have been using the first generation of the manikin in the Western General Hospital for over 16 years. In 2016, the University purchased the Next Generation Harvey(r) - The Cardiopulmonary Patient Simulator to replace the first generation of the manikin located in the Chancellor's Building which had come to the end of its life.

Under Regulation [Reg 6(4)(b)] of the Procurement (Scotland) Regulations 2016, a contracting authority may award a contract without competition based on following justification: Where a change in supplier(s) would mean that the University would have compatibility issues or disproportionate technical difficulties; this procedure can be used to acquire additional deliveries from the original supplier when needed to replace or increase supplies or installations. In this case, the contract or recurrent contract length must not exceed three years, other than in exceptional circumstances.
