Notice Description
SG wish to commission Phase 2 of Scottish Study of Early Learning and Childcare (SSELC) to inform our understanding of the impact of the ELC expansion programme on child and parent outcomes. The first phase of this study is currently underway and includes the collation of baseline data from a sample of eligible 2 year old children (and their parents) across Scotland, who are currently receiving 600 hours of funded ELC only. Phase 2 of SSELC will include additional data collection with a nationally representative group of 3, 4 and 5 year old children (and parents) who are also receiving 600 hours of funded entitlement. It will follow a similar methodology to Phase 1 which includes observations of the children undertaken by the child's key worker and self-completion questionnaires with parents. It is anticipated that fieldwork for Phase 2 will commence in June 2019. All fieldwork must be complete and final reports submitted to Scottish Government by end of April 2020.
