This project relates to the next stage in the process and the transfer of data from the individual records into a database which will form the basis of the online catalogue.

The National Library of Scotland is working towards making a catalogue for its Music Collection available online. This process has begun and the card catalogues are currently being scanned. This project relates to the next stage in the process and the transfer of data from the individual records into a database which will form the basis of the online catalogue. There are approximately 500,000 records across the included music catalogues, details of the type and quantities of records within each music catalogue, along with example photographs, are included as separate attachments to this document. Please note these images are provided to give examples of the different records included within the catalogue and are not examples of the scanned documents the successful contractor will receive to work from. The successful contractor will be provided with instructions detailing how the information from the records should be documented in the database. It is expected that this project will be completed within 9 months of the first set of scanned images being supplied to the successful contractor. It is important that the procurement strategy is correctly informed and formulated to ensure that the Music Card Catalogue contract can be brought to market in its optimal form. The Library recognises the value of market participants having the opportunity to contribute to the development of the procurement strategy on a non-competitive and non-judgmental basis. It would be appreciated therefore if you could provide your views and comments in response to the request for information attached to this notice.
