Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process is currently in the planning and tender stage, initiated by Orbital Marine Power, seeking vessel support for marine operations at the EMEC Berth 5 in Orkney, UK. The tender titled "Call for Competition for vessel support on marine operations" outlines work scopes including the recovery of seabed cables and installation of anchor systems. Key dates include the tender submission deadline of 3rd February 2020, with various expected completion phases from July 2019 to March 2020. The procurement method is selective, employing a restricted procedure to seek relevant service providers in the marine renewable energy industry.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses engaged in marine operations, particularly those specialising in underwater engineering, ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) services, or marine construction. Businesses that possess the expertise to handle work in strong tidal flows and experience with hydraulic tooling will be well-suited to compete. Given the focused nature of the requirements, companies aiming to expand their market presence in the renewable energy sector should consider participating in this procurement to leverage the growth potential in marine operations.
