Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has recently completed a procurement process for the maintenance of the Variable Message Sign (VMS) system, titled "VMS System - Maintenance of Hardware/Software including Supply and Commissioning of New Equipment". This procurement, which falls under the environmental protection sector, was conducted in Stirling, UK. The process was initiated through an open tender procedure, culminating in the award of a contract to Scrimsign Micro Electronics Ltd on 4th November 2019, with a total contract value of £373,786. Key tasks outlined in the contract include providing new software, maintaining existing VMS infrastructure, and ensuring equipment commissioning checks are conducted before the bathing water sampling season, starting on 15th May each year, and providing maintenance support from 1st June to 15th September.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in software development, hardware maintenance, and environmental services. Companies that specialise in VMS technology, alongside those providing IT support and systems integration, would be particularly well-suited to engage in future tenders within this domain. Additionally, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to expand their portfolio in public sector contracts, especially in services related to environmental protection, may find this area conducive for growth as SEPA continues to enhance its network and system capabilities.
