Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Prison Service is currently seeking tenders for the operation of the Tea Bar at HMP Shotts, Lanarkshire, focusing on providing a range of snack items and beverages during prison visit sessions. This open procurement process is in the Tender stage, with submissions due by 9 August 2019. The contract is expected to last for an initial term of one year, with potential annual renewals based on performance. Interested parties can submit their bids electronically, and a point of contact at HMP Shotts is available for those who wish to view the facility.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses, particularly social enterprises or supported businesses, to engage in a community-benefitting service that caters to a vulnerable demographic. Companies with experience in running small cafeteria services, food handling, and hygiene qualifications, alongside a solid financial history, would be well-positioned to compete. The ability to deliver social value and community benefits in such a unique environment could also enhance a company's profile and impact in the community.
