The Scottish Ministers has a requirement to purchase broadband acoustic loggers, for the purposes of long term monitoring of ambient underwater noise, as well as echolocation clicks, whistles, and other vocalisations of marine mammals. These must be capable of being moored for extended periods (several months to a year) underwater and recording data autonomously. The devices will be used as part of a broad scale array monitoring cetaceans and underwater noise levels within Scottish waters. The Scottish Ministers also have a requirement for the supply of medium load acoustic releases, including any other items necessary for the operation of the releases. Equipment will be operated by scientific staff from Marine Scotland, Marine Laboratory, Aberdeen.
