SEPA wishes to purchase a high-throughput DNA Sequencer capable of producing highly reproducible, targeted sequencing data to allow for the taxonomic classification of a wide variety of environmental matrices.

A high-throughput DNA sequencer capable of producing highly reproducible, targeted sequencing data to allow for the taxonomic classification of a wide variety of environmental matrices. The instrument must meet the following criteria as a minimum - be capable of targeted gene (amplicon) sequencing - be capable of 16S metagenomics sequencing - be robust, with high throughput and capable of paired-end reads of 2x300bp - be capable of performing in excess of 20 million reads per analytical run - be capable of generating >100000 reads per sample - will have low error rates (<1%) - will have a small, benchtop footprint - will be easy to use with a touch screen interface and straightforward, intuitive software. This notice is being issued to allow SEPA to assess the level of competition in the market. Suppliers who can provide an instrument which meets the minimum standards above should provide their contact details to Fiona.kemp@sepa.org.uk by 13:00 on 27 August. The publication of this PIN does not commit SEPA to any future procurement exercise or the award of any contract.
