NHSGGC wishes to commission an Alternative Distress Response service that forms part of our overall Distress Response Framework. The Distress Response Framework describes the different levels of distress, where people in distress might seek help and what response/intervention they might expect.

Lot Information

Lot 1

Currently people living in Glasgow City present in emotional distress across a range of locations and services. The level of distress and the service the person has presented to will determine what pathway is followed. It is important that people in distress receive a compassionate response and that the response meets their emotional needs at the time they require it; and they are supported until the distress has reduced in order that they can then contribute to any decision regarding their options for follow on care. The aim of this service is to support people who do not require medical or specialist psychiatric assessment through their period of distress and to signpost to appropriate services or escalate to appropriate services where required. Where appropriate staff will support the person to agree a safety plan and provide onward referral if required. The service will be available to all adults living in Glasgow City over the age of 18. Access to the service will be through a referral process by the following services: Urgent Care Resource Hub (once established) Police Scotland British Transport Police Scottish Ambulance Service NHS 24 NHS GG&C Emergency Departments within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Options: Additional funding may become available during the term of the contract. Additional funding is subject to availability and will be reviewed on an annual basis. Option A is to provide flexibility should additional funding become available and can only be secured by the successful supplier
