Notice Description
The next phase of data collection for the Growing Up in Scotland (GUS) study. GUS is a longitudinal study tracking the lives of children from the early years, through childhood and beyond, to understand how children grow up in contemporary Scotland in the context of their families and communities. The study has been running since 2005 and has covered a wide range of topics around the children, their parents and wider family circumstances and the social context. Lot 1
The subject of the contract is the next phase of data collection for the Growing Up in Scotland (GUS) study. The study is currently tracking one cohort of children, Birth Cohort 1 (BC1, born in 2004/05), who have been followed since they were 10 months old . currently in the field and should be completed by July 2020. The next phase of the study will aim to track BC1 children up to age 19/20 and will involve either one or two sweeps of data collection: Sweep 11, when the children will be in year 6 of secondary school, or at an equivalent age; and Sweep 12 when they will be around 19/20 years old. This phase marks an important stage in the study, with the young person becoming the primary respondent in the study by Sweep 12.
Options: At contract award, only Sweep 11 (and optional elements relating to Sweep 11) is being commissioned. A decision on the commissioning of Sweep 12 (for which two alternative proposals and a number of optional additional elements exist) will be made during the course of the contract. (The published value relates to the total potential value of the contract, including the highest-priced of the alternative options plus all potential additional elements for Sweep 12.)
