Summary of the contracting process

The University of Strathclyde is planning a procurement for the "Supply and Delivery of Pyrolytic Graphite Insulation for the Advanced Forming Research Centre" located in Glasgow, UK. This tender is in the planning stage, with an expected invitation to tender (ITT) scheduled for publication in June 2020. The procurement is focused on sourcing high-temperature insulation materials required to enhance operational efficiency at temperatures up to 1300°C and is categorised under goods, specifically educational supplies. Interested suppliers should express their interest by 8 June 2020 to be considered for the pre-tender engagement process.

This opportunity may be particularly advantageous for businesses specializing in high-temperature materials, insulation products, or those involved in advanced manufacturing technologies. Companies that can provide Pyrolytic Graphite plates meeting specific thermal conductivity and load-bearing standards will be well-suited to participate. Engaging with this tender could lead to beneficial contracts that support growth in sectors related to research and development, as well as manufacturing for educational institutions.

Notice Title

Supply and Delivery of Pyrolytic Graphite Insulation for the Advanced Forming Research Centre

Notice Description

The Contracting Authority seeks notes of interest for a potential procurement exercise for the below requirement: The University of Strathclyde requires a Supplier to provide a high temperature insulation material to be part of an isothermal die stack capable of operating within an isothermal forging vacuum chamber at a temperature of 13000C and loads of up to 2000 Metric tons. The required insulation material is Pyrolytic Graphite plates, which need to take load up to 2500kg/cm2 at temperature between room temperature and 1300 0C and insulates against heat migration along the die stack. The Thermal conductivity in the thickness direction of the plate must be below 1.75W/mdegK within the operating range of temperature. The material is required to be supplied machined and grinded with parallelism and planarity below 0.05mm. Potential tenderers who believe they can fulfil the above requirement are asked to note their interest in order to be involved in the potential pre-tender engagement.
