Notice Description

The University of Edinburgh as the Contracting Authority intends to put in place a framework agreement for the provision of Freight Forwarding, Logistics and Customs Agency services to be utilised by The University's Schools and Departments. The scope of services includes domestic and international logistics, either directly or via appointed specialist shippers; preparation and submission of import and export documentation including Single Administrative Document (C88) or equivalents; commercial invoices, shipper's export declarations, bills of lading and other transhipment and customs clearance documents. Full familiarity with the Harmonized System, HMRC VAT Regulations, the Customs Tariff and incoming MFN Tariff and WTO trading rules is required. The successful bidder(s) should have in place strategic relationships with international air and sea carriers to provide continuous (i.e. ex-works to point of use) UK, European and global controlled transportation of (primarily) specialist laboratory equipment, consumables, research livestock and diets, pharmaceutical and vaccine products. Coverage of the key entrepots for the University is essential, including secondary airports and docks proximate to the University.
