Summary of the contracting process

East Ayrshire Council is conducting a public procurement process for the "Ad-Hoc Specialist Vehicle Repair, Maintenance & Inspections (including MOTs)" service. This initiative falls under the general public services sector and aims to support the maintenance of their fleet consisting of approximately 450 vehicles, including plant and ancillary equipment. The procurement method used is an open procedure, which is currently in the award stage. The framework agreement is set for a duration of one year, with the potential for extension of up to three additional years. Bidders submitted their proposals electronically by the deadline of 28 September 2020.

This procurement tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repair services, especially those capable of servicing both light and heavy vehicles, including buses and plant equipment. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with experience in these areas are particularly encouraged to participate, as the framework is designed to accommodate a variety of service providers. Given that services will be required on an ad-hoc basis, firms looking to establish stable sourcing relationships with East Ayrshire Council may find this to be a fruitful venture.
