Notice Title
Station Park - Water Play
Notice Description
Dumfries and Galloway Council are currently exploring options to develop the current, redundant, water play area at Station Park, Beattock Road, Moffat, DG10 9HF. The aim is to install a new sand and water play area in 2021, which will give the area more play value and increase accessibility to the area. The existing waterplay equipment, surfacing, plant room and railings will be removed by Dumfries and Galloway Council. The area to be developed is approximately 250m2 - if the play area proposal does not cover this whole area, the remaining space will also need to be developed as part of the project to fit in with the new design. The new design should be no larger than the current footprint. The new design must include a mixture of sand and water play items, at various heights to encourage inclusive play by all ages and abilities. It would be preferred that the new design did not require a plant room to run off, but instead works straight off mains water. A low maintenance scheme would also be preferential. There is no requirement for a fence, but landscaping/positioning of equipment should help to define the boundary of the area. The budget for the project is GBP60,000 for Phase 1. However, if it is felt that the project would benefit from further investment, a further GBP10,000-15,000 may be fundraised by the local community for a Phase 2 development. The equipment should be covered by relevant guarantees and manufacturer warranties. It is hoped that the project can be completed in 2021.
