Lot 1

The aim of this project is to investigate and understand the imperial connections of the 336 Properties in Care (PICs), by situating the historical landowners within the activities of the British Empire, including the transatlantic slave economy and other colonial activities. The proposed project will directly address two of the research questions from the HES Research Strategy, which have been identified by the HES Research Forum as being priorities in 2020-21.
