Summary of the contracting process

Highlands and Islands Enterprise has awarded the "XpoNorth Digital" contract, aimed at enhancing digital practices among businesses in the Highlands and Islands region. The procurement process is complete, with the contract starting from 1 August 2022 for an initial period of two years, potentially extendable for up to two additional years, culminating in a maximum expiry date of 31 July 2026. The contract value is estimated between GBP 438,000 and GBP 732,000 over the initial term, part of a broader GBP 315 million initiative supported by the UK and Scottish governments. This open procurement method primarily falls within the services industry, specifically focusing on economic affairs.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses in the digital services sector, particularly those that specialise in developing digital strategies, cybersecurity, and innovative digital content. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can provide tailored digital solutions and support for the creative sector will be well-positioned to compete for future tenders under this framework. Interested suppliers should be prepared to engage with local businesses to maximise the impact of the crowd economy and leverage funding opportunities across the Highlands and Islands.
