Notice Description

East Lothian Council is to seek a service provider to carry out tests to check the fit of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE). The aim of the programme is to ensure that all employees who are required to wear tight fitting Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) receive a test to check the fit of the RPE and to identify an alternate make/model of RPE if needed.

Lot 1

The service will be to provide a face fit testing programme to all East Lothian Council staff (approximately 270 employees) where tight fitting respiratory Protective Equipment is required to be worn. Re-testing will be carried out on a 5-year basis unless there is a change to the RPE type, size, model or material or whenever there is a change to the circumstances of the wearer that could alter the fit of the RPE. The provider will carry out the testing using the Ambient Particle Count method, provide any additional instruction to our employees on the correct donning of their RPE, any recommendations and re-testing if alternate RPE is required as well as proof of their face fit test. The provider will be registered with Fit-2-Test in carrying out of quantitative testing of RPE. The Council will provide a range of locations where testing can be carried out for the initial tranche. It would be advantageous for any individual employees to attend the providers own premises following the initial bulk testing of approximately 270 employees.
