Notice Description

This Prior Information Notice (PIN) relates to early market engagement around the development of a digital platform solution(s) that can optimise pre-operative assessment, theatre capacity and increase theatre productivity. Firstly, NHS National Services Scotland is exploring a requirement for the procurement of a digital platform solution to provide a Digital Pre-operative Assessment tool. The solution will be capable of supporting a National Pre-op Assessment online triage solution for all participating boards in NHS Scotland. The solution will provide a suite of functionality to allow patients to complete a remote pre-operative assessment questionnaire and receive support relating to the planned procedure at designated intervals. The solution will provide healthcare professionals the ability to triage and prioritise requests and direct to the appropriate clinician or service. Secondly, a digital platform solution is required that can improve and maximise waiting list creation that can make the planning, changing and optimisation of theatres scheduling more efficient, ensuring this helps to reduce clinical and administrative time necessary to manage lists. It is important that any platform can be fully integrated with current Electronic Patient Record systems. The system must also have the ability to accurately record cumulative procedure times as well as analysing the time for specific patients in terms of clinical urgency and the overall length of time the patient has waited. The standardised digital platform will bring the benefits to patients and staff across 381 theatres within the 14 Territorial Health Boards, 1 National Health Board (National Waiting Times Centre Board) and 2,000 surgical Consultants across 40-50 theatre specialties in NHS Scotland.
