Summary of the contracting process

NHS Highland, located in Inverness, conducted an open procurement process for a comprehensive Grounds Maintenance and Winter Services contract under the award reference HH079-23-HB. The contract, with a value of approximately £1.6 million, was divided into three lots, covering the North, West, and South & Mid regions of NHS Highland's sites. The procurement process, classified under the services category, reached the award stage with contracts signed on 27th September 2024. The awarded contracts, effective 24/7 and 365 days a year, encompass broad maintenance activities, including litter picking, grass cutting, hedge trimming, and snow removal, with a high weighting on quality (40%) and price (60%).

This tender offers substantial business growth opportunities, particularly for companies specialising in landscaping, grounds care, and winter services. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) like Highland Groundcare Ltd, which was awarded all three lots, would find this procurement beneficial due to its extensive requirements across different regions. The contract's provision for continuous service demands and potential extensions makes it appealing for businesses aiming for long-term commitments and recurrent revenue streams. Firms with a robust operational capability to maintain a large geographic area under varying weather conditions would be well-suited to compete in such tenders.
