Award of Purchase of Sentinel Tags and Acoustic Release Receivers (MS-P-0304)
Notice Description
The Scottish Ministers invites tenders for the purchase of 69khz marine acoustic sentinel tags and acoustic release receivers capable of detecting these tags.As part of larger studies examining movements of salmon and sea trout on the west coast of Scotland, the Scottish Ministers are conducting a study examining the signal variation of 69khz acoustic tags in the environment over time. The study will use existing acoustic receivers (Thelma Biotel TBR 700) supplemented by the receivers purchased in this tender to form an array in the marine environment near the mouth of a river. Using sentinel tags and salinity loggers placed at varying distances, the acoustic efficiency of the array will be examined over time with respect to local salinity, depth and sea state. This study is to build on previous acoustic tracking studies conducted in the loch.
