Summary of the contracting process

NHS Ayrshire & Arran has awarded a contract for the upgrade of Thorlux lighting at UHC Labs, predominantly on level 1 but also including some work on the ground and lower ground levels. The procurement method was direct, meaning the contract was awarded to a single supplier without competition. ELA Electrical has been selected as the contractor for this project. The work began on 11th April 2024 and is expected to be completed by 28th February 2025. The main industry category for this contract is electrical installation work. The key location for the project is Eglinton House, Ailsa Hospital in Ayr.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses skilled in electrical installation, particularly those experienced with intricate projects that must comply with stringent health and safety regulations, such as BS7671 and SHTMs. Although the procurement was direct, similar future projects might offer opportunities for electrical contractors. Companies experienced in working within hospital environments and able to coordinate around medical staff schedules to minimise disruptions would be particularly well-suited. Businesses that can handle waste disposal in compliance with relevant regulations and infection control measures will find this tender a useful case study for demonstrating their capabilities in competitive tenders.
