Summary of the contracting process

Perth & Kinross Council has recently concluded the award stage of a procurement process titled "PKC13259 Domestic Smoke Alarm Replacement." This project is in the works category and is located within the Perth & Kinross Council area, specifically within the postal region of UKM77. The procurement aimed to replace smoke alarms in around 2,300 properties over a two-year period, potentially extending by an additional year. The procurement followed a selective method through a restricted procedure. Key dates included the initial planning in February 2025, the tender announcement in May 2025, and the contract award on 25th September 2025, highlighting a planned start around July 2025. The project has been awarded to Valley Group Limited and involves an active contract valued at approximately GBP 2,114,873.33.

This tender presents significant opportunities for business growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in electrical works and safety equipment installations. The contract, aiming at upgrading smoke alarms to Grade D/FD1 LD2 standards, requires the installation of multi-sensor and battery-powered smoke detectors. Businesses specializing in smoke alarm systems, specifically those familiar with Aico products, could find this to be an ideal opportunity. The procurement's emphasis on both quality and price, split at a ratio of 60:40, allows for competitive bids by companies that can demonstrate quality management and health safety compliance. This opportunity is particularly appealing for those who can highlight their capability to handle installations efficiently in occupied settings and experience in delivering similar projects for local authorities or social housing providers.
