Star Chillers Maintenance Services
Notice Description
The University of Edinburgh has appointed a supplier to provide preventative and reactive maintenance services for Star water chillers. An agreement is required to ensure the chilled water systems located on the roof of James Clerk Maxwell Building remain in operation, as these are critical for the core business of the University. The chillers currently in operation are manufactured by Star, and their maintenance requires manufacturer-specific expertise, tools, and diagnostic software that are not accessible to third-party service providers. Only Star Refrigeration Ltd has the technical capability and legal right to fully service and maintain these systems in compliance with manufacturer specifications. In particular: o Only Star engineers are factory trained and authorised to work on these systems; o Proprietary software and diagnostic protocols required for effective servicing and fault resolution are not available to non-OEM providers; o Star holds exclusive access to genuine replacement parts and firmware updates; Maintenance by unauthorised third parties would invalidate existing warranties and may compromise system performance and compliance with relevant legislation, including F-Gas and health & safety requirements. Contract start date 1st September 2025 Contract end date 31st August 2030 Any built-in/optional extensions: N/A
