Summary of the contracting process

The Common Services Agency, more commonly known as NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), has completed a procurement process for the supply of Orthotic Consumables. This procurement was conducted through an open procedure and focused on the health category. The process was initiated to provide various orthotic support products aimed at reducing pressure and offering body support, both in and out of bed. The procurement operation was carried out from the central location of Edinburgh, UKM, with significant input provided by the central purchasing body, NHS National Services Scotland's National Procurement division. The award notice was issued on 26 May 2026, following contract signing on 22 May 2026. This contracting process has culminated in the award of contracts to multiple suppliers across different product lots, such as knee braces and upper body supports.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for SMEs, as indicated by the participating suppliers chosen for various lots, showcasing NHS Scotland's commitment to supporting smaller enterprises. Businesses in the medical supplies industry that focus on orthotic and support products are well-suited to engage with this procurement framework. The open procedure adopted here offers a transparent competitive environment, allowing businesses to demonstrate their capacity and innovation in sustainable goods, aligning with NHS Scotland’s sustainability goals. Moreover, companies with expertise in creating durable and effective medical support products could benefit from increased exposure and expansion opportunities across the NHS's extensive network within Scotland.
