This procurement for Autoclave which is vital to support all of SIPBS research and teaching activities. The service provided by this equipment is the autoclaving of biological and clinical waste and safe disposal in accordance with the Control of Substances Hazard to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), Genetically Modified Organisms Regulations 2014 (GMO) and The Health Technical Memorandum (HTM07-01) Safe Management of Healthcare Waste. The supplier will be required to decommission and remove the existing autoclave system, and additionally install and commission the new system within the existing space.

The Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) is a leading research institute within the University of Strathclyde, recognised internationally for its groundbreaking contributions in biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences. SIPBS is renowned for its interdisciplinary research environment, housing state-of-the-art facilities and fostering innovative approaches that bridge academic, industry, and clinical practice. We are leaders in research, teaching and knowledge exchange. Strathclyde's Allied Health submission was rated 100% world leading for its research environment, ranked 11th (of 91) in the UK for its overall Research Quality and Research Power and is the highest-performing Scottish institution (THE analysis of REF 2021 data). Our MPharm and Biomedical Sciences undergraduate degrees are highly rated in the UK, with Pharmacology & Pharmacy ranked 3rd in the UK (Complete University Guide 2025) and Top 15 in the UK for Biomedical Sciences (Complete University Guide 2025). In order to maintain this reputation, SIPBS requires a new autoclave which is vital to support all of SIPBS research and teaching activities. The service provided by this equipment is the autoclaving of biological and clinical waste and safe disposal in accordance with the Control of Substances Hazard to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), Genetically Modified Organisms Regulations 2014 (GMO) and The Health Technical Memorandum (HTM07-01) Safe Management of Healthcare Waste. The specification for the procurement includes a non-exhaustive list of key features as below: - The supplier will be required to decommission and remove the existing autoclave system, and additionally install and commission the new system within the existing space. - SIPBS have a current footprint of 1200cm x 1900cm x 1700cm to house the autoclave. - The offered equipment must comply with all applicable H&S standards to ensure safety during all stages of equipment's lifecycle. (Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000, PUWER 1998: Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) - The offered equipment must run continuously without user intervention to maintain the system. - All components of the offered equipment must be supplied by the awarded supplier(s), including but not limited to hardware, software, installation, and commissioning services. - The awarded supplier(s) shall provide a copy of their offered solutions infrastructure requirements including but not limited to relevant information on: dimensions, power supply, network connectivity, floor loading, etc. - The equipment must use no more than 280L per cycle water - The equipment must not use more than 10.1kw per cycle electricity." There is additional requirement that the new system is sustainable and environmentally conscious. In particular, the system should reduce water, energy consumption and carbon consumption. Potential suppliers are required to attend a mandatory site visit on the 22nd January 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Hamnett Wing (Level 3), John Arbuthnott Building, University of Strathclyde Glasgow, G4 0NR.. The University published a PIN (OCT542116) for initial Market Research and Engagement purposes.

Options: The Contracting Authority reserves the right to request for additional deliveries by the successful tenderer, either intended as partial replacement of supplies or installations or as extensions of existing supplies and installations. The Contracting Authority may at it's sole discretion exercise it's option.
