Summary of the contracting process

North Ayrshire Council has concluded the procurement process for the Secure Disposal of IT Equipment across various locations in North Ayrshire, including the Isle of Arran and Isle of Cumbrae. This contract was procured through an open procedure, classified under the services category. The procurement involved an open tender process, where tenders were solicited with the requirement that North Ayrshire Council would not incur costs but rather generate revenue from the collected equipment. The contract, valued at £1,017,750, was awarded to Asset Lifecycle Solutions, an SME based in Runcorn. The contract commenced on 13th July 2026 and is set to conclude on 12th July 2029, with the option to extend by up to 24 months based on performance and funding considerations.

This project presents significant opportunities for firms involved in IT asset management and disposal, particularly those that can demonstrate capabilities in secure collection and disposal services. Companies offering innovative solutions for value recovery from IT equipment are well-positioned to benefit. The tender specified necessary qualifications and affiliations, such as data protection standards and environmental management credentials, creating opportunities for businesses with robust compliance and certification records. As the contract encourages the inclusion of community benefits, businesses that align with North Ayrshire Council's socio-economic and environmental priorities, such as those involved in the Community Wealth Building Strategy, may find additional opportunities for collaboration and growth within this framework. Additionally, with the potential to renew for 24 months, this contract may offer long-term business growth prospects for well-suited companies.
