Summary of the contracting process

Argyll and Bute Council has issued an open tender for the maintenance of biomass heating systems across 9 schools and a school hostel located in Argyll and Bute, UK. The procurement, titled "Biomass Heating Systems - Maintenance Services," falls under the services category and is part of a standard maintenance contract for 10 existing wood pellet fuelled biomass boiler installations. The procurement stage is currently at the tender update phase as of 21st July 2026, with the deadline for submissions extended to 31st July 2026 due to the high volume of questions received. The procurement follows an open procedure, requiring electronic submissions, and is governed by legal directives under CELEX 32014L0024.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in biomass boiler maintenance and related fields, such as heating system maintenance and emergency repair services. Companies with expertise in preventive maintenance and compliance with statutory, best practice, and manufacturer-recommended tasks will find this contract particularly aligned with their services. As the contract can potentially extend for up to three additional years, having a comprehensive understanding of biomass fuel technology and community benefit integration could enhance a business's ability to secure this and future opportunities with Argyll and Bute Council.
