SOUTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL

This public procurement record has 1 release in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

South Lanarkshire Council, located in Hamilton, is currently in the planning stage for a public procurement process seeking to supply, install, and maintain a corporate telematics solution. The procurement falls under the services category and targets improvements in occupational road risk management, fleet compliance, and operational efficiency. The council's objective is to support its diverse fleet of approximately 1,500 vehicles, which includes a mix of transportation and service vehicles, such as refuse collection trucks and electric vehicles. This planned procurement, identified by the tender ID SLC/FC/26/045, invites interested parties to engage with a market engagement questionnaire, with anticipated future notice on 17 June 2026.

This procurement offers significant opportunities for businesses involved in telematics solutions and fleet management technologies. Companies specialising in scalable telematics systems with a focus on compliance, safety, and efficiency have the chance to showcase their capabilities and potentially secure a contract with a large regional authority. Businesses adept at providing robust, data-driven fleet management tools and services, particularly those with experience in complex and diverse fleet operations, are well-suited to compete in this tender process. Engaging early with the Council via the market engagement questionnaire could provide strategic insights and a competitive edge for interested suppliers.

Lot Information

Lot 1

South Lanarkshire Council currently operates a large and diverse fleet of approximately 1,500 vehicles and plant assets across multiple services, depots and operational locations. The fleet supports a wide range of frontline, statutory and operational Council functions, including waste, roads, winter maintenance, passenger transport, grounds, housing, fleet maintenance and general Council operations. The fleet includes refuse collection vehicles, gritters, buses, sweepers, light commercial vehicles, cars, specialist vehicles, plant, trailers, internal combustion engine vehicles, hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles. Some vehicles and assets are depot-based, while others operate from remote or dispersed locations across the Council area. The Council's current telematics arrangements provide reporting on areas such as vehicle utilisation, idling, speeding and driver behaviour. As the Council's fleet and operational requirements continue to change, the Council is seeking to understand the current market capability for a modern, scalable and future-ready corporate telematics solution. The Council is looking to procure a solution that can support occupational road risk management, fleet compliance, driver safety, operational efficiency, asset utilisation, decarbonisation, EV transition planning and improved management information. The future solution should be capable of supporting a complex mixed fleet, including specialist vehicles and plant, while providing reliable data, flexible reporting, appropriate privacy controls, role-based access, integration options and effective support arrangements. The Council is therefore seeking expressions of interest and engagement with potential bidders, in advance of publishing an Invitation to Tender, for new service provision
