Summary of the contracting process

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for the project titled "RNAscope, Basescope and associated nucleic acid detection systems". The procurement is focused on the category of electronic detection apparatus, with a specific requirement for reagents, equipment, probes, and accessory materials for nucleic acid detection procedures. The deadline for supplier engagement is set for 15 October 2018. All communication can be directed to Nawaz Habib at their office located in Potters Bar, England, with plans to publish further details on the MHRA e-procurement portal (Bravo) once finalised.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the medical supplies and laboratory equipment sectors, particularly those specialising in detection apparatus and reagents. Companies able to provide high-sensitivity detection systems compatible with existing laboratory technologies, as well as those offering consumables for automated staining processes, will be well-positioned to compete. The emphasis on adaptability for both manual and automated workflows indicates a market for suppliers who can customise solutions to meet specific laboratory needs.

Notice Title

RNAscope, Basescope and associated nucleic acid detection systems

Notice Description

The Agency requires to purchase reagents, equipment, probes and accessory materials required to perform RNAscope, Basescope and related probe based nucleic acid detection procedures. Detection sensitivity must be suitable for single genome copy detection with minimal off target background. Detection systems must be appropriate for identification of single, duplex and multiplex targets within a single sample in both chromogenic and fluorescent formats. Detection systems must be appropriate for combining with either chromogenic or fluorescent automated immunohistochemical detection protocols. Detection systems must be compatible with equipment systems already fully established within the laboratory. Detection systems must be suitable for both manual and automated staining processes. We are keen to know how many suppliers can supply these consumables or like by like equivalent. So If you can supply, please feel free to contact us by sending an email to nawaz.habib@nibsc.org. This tender will be published on MHRA e-procurement portal (Bravo) once all the relevant documents are finalised.
