Summary of the contracting process

Cambridgeshire County Council’s ICT Service is buying computer hardware, software and related ICT services to supply to schools and academies through its chargeable commercial service. The council’s wider school ICT offer includes support and training as well as equipment and software, but this contract specifically covers the procurement of hardware, software and associated services for resale to schools. The work is in the education technology market and is being delivered for schools in England. The requirement brings together technology products and services rather than a standalone software system or equipment purchase, so suppliers need to be able to support the council’s school-facing supply activity.

The procurement is complete and was awarded to Advania UK (CCS) Limited on 4 August 2026. The award value is £7.5 million. The awarded contract period runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2029. The tender described an initial three-year term with two possible 12-month extensions, and an estimated annual contract value of £1.5 million excluding VAT. This was a further competition under the Crown Commercial Service Technology Products and Associated Services 2 framework, Education Technology lot, seeking a single supplier. The response deadline was 1 May 2026 at 12 noon. No evaluation criteria or detailed eligibility requirements are stated in the available procurement information.

This award demonstrates recurring demand from Cambridgeshire County Council’s ICT Service for a supplier able to source and provide a broad mix of hardware, software and associated services for schools and academies. A credible competitor when this requirement returns would need the capacity to supply technology products at scale and the capability to support a public-sector intermediary that resells them as part of a chargeable school ICT service. Relevant experience serving education customers and coordinating product supply with associated ICT services would be commercially pertinent. The council selected one supplier through a further competition under its Education Technology framework route, so suppliers seeking comparable work should be established on the relevant framework and able to meet a single-supplier requirement. The award is a signal of demand for education technology provision, not only a one-off equipment purchase.
