Suppliers in Lot 2 will be expected to perform research and development and manufacturing tasks, including integrated engineering design (mechanical, electrical, software), simulation (e.g. finite element analysis, multiphysics simulation) and testing (e.g. validation and verification). Manufacturing tasks can include both the manufacturing of specific items as well as designing manufacturing processes and facilities. The technologies involved are those at the core of SBSP: Concentrator photovoltaics: chip development, power electronics, concentrator optics, systems integration; Wireless power transmission: antenna and rectenna, RF systems, power systems ground infrastructure; and Robotic assembly and servicing, including hardware and software.
