Summary of the contracting process

Somerset Council has successfully completed its procurement process for Security Services and Servicing, Testing and Inspection of Alarms and Suppression Systems for the year 2025. The contracting authority sought to enhance services across its Corporate Estate, encompassing static guarding, key holding, mobile patrol, and alarm system maintenance services. The procurement, categorised under the "services" industry, took place via an open procedure and is now at the contract award stage, with awards dated on 19th May 2025. The contracts cover the region of UKK23, which includes Taunton, and were divided into multiple lots with the significant opportunity to achieve cost savings. Two companies, Tremorfa Limited and Chase Services Group Ltd, have secured the contracts for alarm servicing and security services respectively.

This tender process represents a substantial growth opportunity for businesses specialising in security services and alarm systems within Somerset. Contractors that can provide high-quality security solutions, coupled with innovative surveillance technologies and efficient alarm maintenance services, would benefit from engaging with such opportunities. The awarded contracts illustrate a demand for comprehensive security solutions along with maintenance expertise, offering service providers a chance to expand their portfolios and refine their offerings whilst contributing to the economic and social value outlined by the council. SMEs with expertise in these domains are particularly well-suited to compete, as the buyer prioritises social value and quality alongside pricing.
